Dear Reader-One week ago today (Thursday), 8 p. m. Yours Truly boarded the Empire Builder on the Great Northern headed for Chicago, my first stop.
I had lower 8 in P-6 in the 'Wild Rose' car. A Naval officer had upper 8.
Yes, I thought the same thing you're thinking, but it wasn't. There was no '13' in this car.
It was yet early the lounge and observation car inviting.
I was so tired from doing things for other people up to the time of departure, I chose to go to bed, reflecting with gratitude this opportunity made possible by the Puget Sound Annual conference.
Am no less grateful for friends who gave me lovely going away gifts, lingerie, hosiery. toiletries. kerchiefs, corsages, etc. And to my husband and children for their substantial assistance, assuring me of a comfortable as well as pleasant trip.
Out of Oregon, diagonally across Washington. was in Spokane early Friday. We sped across the northern tip of Idaho and into the wide open places of Montana, viewed from the luxurious lounge.
Glacier National Park, one of the greatest points of interest, in Montana, is up near the Canadian border.
It was over into Saturday before we reached North Dakota, with its mildly cold weather, so unlike 20 to 40 degrees below in winter.
By 10 p. m. we had reached the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul.
