Weld and Adams County Farmers Reclaim 50,000 Acres
Everything is now in readiness for beginning construction of the Henry Lyn irrigation plant in southern Weld and northern Adams counties, at a cost of $1,250,000.
Plans have been completed and are in the hands of the engineers to inaugurate the work on this big venture, which the Bowles-Buffe Irrigation company has financed.
Fifty thousand acres of land will be furnished with water from the canals and reservoirs which the syndicate will build. The water will be secured from the floods of the Platte at Denver, taken by a forty-mile canal, which will parallel the Burlington road from Denver to Hudson, thence south of Barr lake and on to Keene.
Two reservoirs will be constructed near Barr lake to store up the flood waters gathered at Denver.
Last week the water users and land owners in the vicinity voted to form the Henry Lyn irrigation district and to issue $1,250,000 bonds with which to put the project through.
The ground has been surveyed. Filings for water were made four years ago and secured by the syndicate which has financed the enterprise.
