BAD FOR THE PARTY.

It is a noticeable fact that Radical party papers seem to have very little faith that Babcock will prove himself "absolutely innocent" and every telegram perfectly innocent the moment he can be heard. There is an evident disposition to push the President's private secretary to the wall. The party press is enraged with him. The discovery of his guilt comes at an inopportune time for the organization, and for this offense Babcock will never be forgiven. His incarceration between the four walls of a prison will not half satisfy the outraged sense of fitness of the Radical leaders.
