Hearing Set In Riot On Beach Case

Officer George Stimple, of 1249 Arizona street, will remain on active duty until his hearing before the Police Civil Service Commission on Friday, June 30 at 7 p.m.

Stimple is being charged with neglect of duty, conduct unbecoming an officer on duty and conduct injurious to public peace or welfare. The charges stem from an incident on Marquette Park beach Memorial Day when Murray Richards, 21, was attacked by a group of 15 or more. No attempt to stop the fight, Poncer joined the charges on the recommendation of Mayor George Chacharis and City Attorney Harry Schell, who asked that Stimple be suspended from duty without pay until further notice.
