COUNTY POLITICS.

Politics in Brown County are livening up a little bit as indicated by the filings of candidates for some of the county offices. However, from the filings so far made it does not appear that there is a county wide political scrimmage as yet. The offices most sought after seem to be those of County Commissioner. For the Third district, three candidates have so far made their candidacy known. They are Otto Wiedenmann, Theodore Mueller and Rudolph Marti, all of them living in New Ulm and well known to the voters of this district.

For the office of commissioner of the second district, Theodore Botten of Linden and Christ Roland of Lake Hanska have duly filed with the county auditor and it is to be expected that the present incumbent John M. Johnson will also file for this office. For the office of commissioner of the fourth district, Richard Mielke of Sleepy Eye has announced his candidacy and will be the opponent of Charles M. Palmer, the present incumbent, who no doubt will ask for re-election on his past record.

The first one to file for a county office was J. S. Hanson of Linden who is a candidate for the office of sheriff. The latest one to file is Alfred A. Schlumpberger of this city who on Tuesday filed for the office of Register of Deeds.

As compared with other counties, Brown County has, up-to-date, been politically very quiet but it is expected that before the time for filing in the primary election is over, there will be quite a number more who will make their announcements for this or that office known.
