Event Details
Ansel Truby, Geo. Felter, Hiram Chase, Daniel Loomis, and Morgan Comstock went to bathe in the Delaware river at Walton. Truby began strangling; Chase, Loomis, and Felter attempted rescues but were seized by Truby. Felter and Truby sank; Capt. Newbury jumped in to assist, but Truby grasped him fatally, and both drowned.
