Mayor Drops Bombshell at F.B.I. Banquet, Class Receives Certificates
Referred to as "most untimely" in some quarters, Mayor Harvey J. Grinsell, speaking at the F.B.I. banquet last Thursday night in Hotel Putnam, charged that some members of the city police department had "unknowingly contributed to the financial support of the last town election and this practice was in direct contradiction to the new rules and regulations governing the department under the provisions of the Merit System."
When questioned on the subject by The Patriot, Mayor Grinsell said that not only did he have proof of the assertion but after the banquet two members of the department admitted the fact. Grinsell said that two democrats and one republican were involved but no real issue will be made because of the fact that the rules and

Dempsey, who acted as master of ceremonies.
All F.B.I. representatives emphasized that they are willing at all times to be of assistance to local and surrounding departments, as well as individuals. Numerous interesting experiences and cases were cited and certificates awarded for successful completion of the recent course offered in Putnam.
