CRAWFORD COUNTY 4-H CLUB RALLY
By Mrs. Esther G. Kramer

Two Hundred and Fifty club members, 16 town sponsors, and local leaders from each rural club, attended an all-day rally at the courthouse at Van Buren recently. This county has not held a rally for several years as there has been no home demonstration agent in the county for some time. Everyone declared this recreational day a complete success, and feel that from now on, it will be an annual event. The morning was given over to addresses by business men, and club members and the business session of the county organization. Carl Creekmore of Mountainburg Club was elected president of the County Council of 4H Clubs. McDonald Small was elected vice-president and Doris Wilbanks secretary. Mr. Percy Boatright in welcoming the delegation to the county seat reviewed the many achievements of club members in Crawford County in the past few years, and in a response, Carl Creekmore credited the business men of Van Buren with having been an inspiration to the 4-H Club members through their co-operation. He also talked of 4-H Club work and what it had meant to him, praised the work of the County Agricultural Extension Workers in the County, and told of the benefits to be obtained from a trip to the State 4-H Camp at Fayetteville. Mr. C. J. Byrd County Agricultural Agent, introduced the town sponsors, and each of them spoke of his interest in his particular club, and presented his group with banner and individual badge, balloon, parasol or horn.

Musical numbers added to the interest of the morning's program and a radio program from Fort Smith was dedicated to the 4-H Club boys and girls of Crawford county. Mr. W. J. Jernigan, State 4-H Club leader, was present and spoke to the group. Mr. J. J. Izard, Key Banker, spoke on achievements of 4-H members over the State. Mrs. Esther Kramer, district supervisor of home demonstration agents for Northwest Arkansas, discussed 4-H Club ideals.
