Editors Herald:-
It appears that winter has come at last in dead earnest, and we are probably as well prepared for it now as we ever shall be. The late fine weather has been utilized by our builders; the unfinished walls of some of the more prominent buildings which had been covered up for the winter were uncovered again last week, and the ring of the bricklayer's trowel blended harmoniously with the other Christmas music.
Christmas day was welcomed with a flutter of delightful expectancy by the little ones, and those of maturer years seemed to cast aside the burden of cares and anxieties to assume the buoyancy and simplicity of childhood. If age has not the exuberance of youth it has the compensation of memory where the happy days gone by have been stored away to be recalled again in quiet, lonesome hours. We shall doubtless keep such treasures fresh and bright hereafter, at present we have solid facts to deal with. The year that is drawing to a close will be a memorable one in the history of Provo, on account of the rapid progress that has been manifested in every direction, and which has had the effect to enhance the value of real property at least 33 per cent as compared with this time last year.
