CALL IS UNANIMOUS

Organization Has Made Rapid Strides During Past Eleven Months And Larger Development Is Planned.

One of the official acts of the meeting of the Men's Brotherhood of the First Christian Church, held on Thursday night at the church, was the calling of the present pastor, the Rev. Arthur M. Growden, D. D., for another year. Doctor Growden's first year as pastor of the church will expire next month, and the membership of the church desired to express their appreciation of his splendid work by extending a second call before his time was up. Doctor Growden accepted the call and will continue with us.

During the eleven months of Doctor Growden's pastorate, the First Christian Church of Columbus has enjoyed remarkable growth. Many have been added to the membership of the church and all departments of church work have been strengthened. The church building was re-modeled and made modern since Doctor Growden came, plans for the improvements having been drawn by him. He has co-operated most effectively with the other ministers and churches of the city, and is held in high esteem by all our people. The major portion of his "spare time" is spent in hospitals and sick-rooms, offering comfort and cheer to the afflicted

The meeting of the Men's Brotherhood on Thursday night was in the nature of a banquet and "get-to-gether" social. The feast of good things to eat was prepared and served by the Ladies' Aid Society of the church, companion in good works with the Men's Brotherhood.

Addresses were made by Doctor Growden. Mr. C. B. Roper and Mr. C. M. Brosius. An interesting talk was made by Miss Kate Miller. a talented member of the M. S. C. W. faculty on the importance of keeping the finances of the church up in good shape all the time. A finance committee was appointed to look after the raising of the pastor's salary and other expenses of the organization. The committee is composed of Messrs. Wingfield, Roper and Brosius. Mrs. Hovious, Mrs. Greenlee and Miss Kate Miller.

One of the pleasant features of the evening was the music 'by a special orchestra composed of Miss Martha Greenlee, Miss Filda Bell and Miss Madeline Bell. two violins and piano.

Doctor Growden expressed most heartily his appreciation of the help and co-operation of the membership during the months of his pastorate, and outlined plans for future work.

The Men's Brotherhood is planning to put on "The Womanless Wedding" in about thirty days, and a great deal of wholesome fun and comedy may be expected.
