Squatter Meeting In Kansas.—On Monday last a Squatter meeting was held at ----. Several claims were decided by the Squatter Association, and under instructions from the Governor, a Justice of Peace recommended for appointment. It being necessary to have a Justice of the Peace to swear in the judges of elections in each precinct, the Governor requested the squatters to signify their choice to him. In conformity to this request, a vote was taken at the meeting, and, there being a tie, two opposed candidates proceeded to play what is known among the boys as "wet and dry," that is to say a chip was thrown up wet on one side and dry on the other, and the matter decided as chance might bring the one side or the other up. This mode of convention might astonish the "Old Fogies" of the "Old States" some, but then the "Old Fogies" "don't know nothing."—[St. Joseph Cycle.
