BANNACK'S DREAMS COME TRUE AS THE I. B. MINING COMPANY STARTS MILLING

One-Time "Ghost City" Makes Startling Comeback As Work in Gold Mines Is Resumed.

Bannack, scene of the discovery of the first placer gold ever found in Montana, is today one of the livest towns in the state, in sharp contrast to its semi-deserted condition during the past decade when it nearly deserved the name of ghost city."

The change has been brought about by the I. B. Mining company, which has installed a large mill and which is preparing to treat ore from one of the mines adjacent to the town.

The company has installed new hoisting equipment and is now taking steps to block out a large body of ore.

About 70 men are now on the payroll but this amount is to be increased in the very near future.

As a result of the development, all of the town's houses are now full and there is a prospect of a housing shortage. Spurred by the development, it is expected that many other mines in the district will again be re-worked.

C. W. Stallings is superintendent of the I. B. and with I. B. Haviland has spent years in placing the company in operation and financing the purchase of the needed equipment.
