Full Text

NOT TRUE
It has been frequently stated by certain newspaper correspondents, and others, that Senator Sawyer is supporting Mr. McCord's candidacy for the Republican nomination for congress in this district. This statement and all similar ones, by whomsoever made, are wholly without foundation in truth. The writer hereof has seen a letter from Mr. Sawyer, written within the last few days in which he says that all the aspirants are his friends, and that he has not interfered in the matter at all, and will not. This places Mr. Sawyer in the precise attitude he ought to occupy and which those who know him well have believed he occupied from the beginning.
