QUEBEC, Oct. 27.—Allan R. Hawley and Augustus Post, the intrepid aeronauts who started from St. Louis Oct. 17 in the international distance race for the James Gordon Bennett cup, landed safely Oct. 19, on a mountain fifty-eight miles north of this place.

Adverse weather compelled a landing or their flight might have been much greater. As it was, they smashed all records for distance, their landing place being 1,355 miles from St. Louis. Since landing they have been struggling to reach a settlement through an almost unknown region, finally succeeding foot sore and weary, but happy, last evening.

Their record is: Start, St. Louis Oct. 17; balloon, America II; crew, Allan R. Hawley and Augustus Post; distance traveled, 1,355 miles; flew in all about 1,000 miles; time in air, forty-six hours; landed 4 p. m. Oct. 19; average speed, thirty-five miles an hour; landed on a mountain (unnamed) fifty-eight miles north of Chicoutimi, Quebec.
