Glasgow- The pathetic story of how three small children cared for themselves while their father lay dead on the floor of their trailer home was told Wednesday by sheriff's officers.
A customer of the 58-year old auto mechanic father went to the trailer to order repair work on his car.
"Daddy's sick," said the oldest child, Blaine, 7, who was trying to prepare a meal for himself and two sisters, Patty, 4, and Mary, 2.
The customer, knowing Mrs. Hoyt was in the State Hospital at Warm Springs, notified authorities and Deputy Sheriff Henry Paulsen found the body on the bathroom floor about 3 p.m. Monday.
The father had died of natural causes about 12 hours earlier.
Walt Hoyt, the father of these children was a resident of the Harlem community and attended Harlem schools. Before moving his family to a new location just a few years ago, Mr. Hoyt was an employee at Dolven Chevrolet Co. here.
