DOUBLE MAIN EVENT BOOKED IN LOCAL RING

A double main event, supported by two good preliminaries, is the card offered by the Imperial Valley Athletic club this week for those who are unable to get away over the double holiday.

The No. 1 scrap will be between Tommy Elks, one of the best Mexican middleweights in the country and Frankie West, who has defeated Armstrong twice in the local arena, and knocked out Billy Webb in less than one round last week.

Elks has fought Jackie Fields, Jack Thompson, former champion welterweight, and Young Corbett. He gave them all good scraps and though he did not win the decision, the fans got plenty for their money.

West and Elks are hard punchers.
