The Montgomery County Agricultural Society held a meeting here last Saturday, the proceedings of which involve probable changes of an important character. It is generally known that the Society purchased, several weeks since, some twenty acres of land, near the Sulphur Springs, for the Fair grounds. The main advantage claimed for this location consisted in the near vicinity and abundance of water for both visitors and stock there being several springs near by, and a considerable stream, that is perennial, skirting the grounds. These were claimed as the main advantages, and in other respects we suppose, of course, this location was deemed desirable, or it would not have been purchased. That there were objections to these grounds, too, we need hardly state. The difficulty of access was one. The roads leading to them, are rough, narrow, dirt roads. which would have to be worked at a considerable expense to render them fit avenues for the immense travel likely to be done over them. These are the roads from the pike to the grounds, and from the railroad to them. Another objection was the absence of shade-trees, on the grounds. At the meeting last Saturday. these and other objections were urged and it was represented that great dissatisfaction existed about the location the Society had made : that stock could be obtained if another site were procured that cannot if the present one be retained, and that much stock, already subscribed will be very reluctantly paid, if paid at all. without suit. if a change is not made. In view of this state of affairs the Society called a meeting of all the Stockholders for the 14th inst. to consider, and vote on the proposed change of location of the Fair grounds. It is a very important matter indeed, and we hope that every stockholder will be present in person, as no voting by proxy will be allowed.
