Good Morning Judge
News from Miami's Municipal 1 Precinct Court
JUDGE JOHN D. JOHNSON, PRESIDING
By ELLIOTT J. PIEZE, Times Staff Writer

A total of 96 cases was listed for trial in Municipal Court Monday morning.

The case of Mrs. Alice Clark, of 1019 NW 4th ave., who was charged with assault with a knife on Mrs. Anna Bradford, of 1017 NW 4th ave., drew much attention. The two women are neighbors, and appear to be middle aged, well meaning women, who would hardly be found in a trial of this kind.

Mrs. Bradford told the court that she and Mrs. Clark had been friends for a long time, but that recently an argument occurred between the two, and during the argument, Mrs. Clark used some strong words to her. After everything, seemingly had been settled, Mrs. Bradford continued, Mrs. Clark approached her on Oct. 8 and threatened to cut her. The police were called and Mrs. Clark was arrested.

Mrs. Clark denied pulling a knife on Mrs. Bradford, and added that on a previous occasion, Mrs. Bradford threw a pot of peas at her in a fit of anger.

There were charges and counter charges by the two women, and Mrs. Bradford made things a little worse by telling the court that on one occasion Mrs. Clark had sent another woman to her home to look for the other woman's husband, where Mrs. Clark had apparently told the other woman her husband was. But the husband was not there. Judge Johnson reprimanded both women for being in court on such a matter and fined Mrs. Clark $50 or 20 days.

Among other cases heard and disposed of were the following:

Rudolph Marks, charged with disorderly conduct, sleeping on private property, fined $15 or six days.

Johnny Brazley, charged with vagrancy, dismissed with a warning.

Everett Jackson, charged with disorderly conduct, sleeping on private property, fined $15 or six days.

Dave Miley, charged with vagrancy, dismissed with a warning.

Lamar Cecil Lemon, charged with disorderly conduct, loitering, fined $15 or six days.

Thomas Lee Hines, charged with drunk, disorderly conduct, creating a disturbance, and with carrying a concealed weapon (a knife) fined $100 or 40 days on the two charges combined.

Edward Mortimer, charged with being drunk and with carrying concealed weapon (a meskit knife) fined $65 or 26 days on the two charges.

James Hawthorne, charged with drunk and disorderly conduct creating a disturbance, fined $35 or 14 days.

Willie Williams, charged with disorderly conduct, loitering, $15 or six days.

Henry Williams, charged with disorderly conduct, loitering, fined $15 or six days, but his fine was suspended.

Jerry Lee Jackson, charged with disorderly conduct, creating a disturbance, and with assault and battery with his hands on Ralph Scanes, dismissed for lack of prosecution.

Jesse Lee Hanner, charged with reckless driving and with driving without a driver's license, fined $30 or 12 days on both charges.

Samuel Seymour, charged with disorderly conduct, loitering, given a suspended sentence.

Marcus Dawson, charged with assault and battery with hands on Emma Martin, continued to Tuesday, Oct. 23.

S. T. Killingsworthy, charged with disorderly conduct, creating a disturbance and with resisting arrest, fined $100 or 40 days on
