We are indebted to the politeness of Capt. Hanna, of the fast sailing schr. Annette, 7 days from Tampico, for an extract of a letter, stating that "Congress on the 2d of January recognised General Pedraza as president, until the election in March, when some disturbance 's expected from Bustamente's party. But government has liberally appointed men of both parties to office and command."
Yucatan, Jalisco, and San Louis are dissatisfied with the new arrangement, and some animosity still subsisted between the old parties. Finances are in a deplorable condition.
This is the substance of the letter, for which we have no room.
Business at Tampico was lively. The convoy had arrived from Mexico on the 14th February, with thirteen hundred thousand dollars--six hundred thousand of which were shipped in the British packet, for England; the greater quantity of the residue was destined for New Orleans. Another convoy was expected to arrive at Tampico on the 25th inst. with a like sum.
[We augur better than the writer at Tampico. Santanna's popularity and address will suppress disorder in a short time-if he be elected.
N. O. Adv. March 4.
