Condition Sec'ty. Of War Dern Was Said to Be Serious

Washington, D. C., Aug. 26th--Officials of the Walter Reed Hospital expressed anxiety over the condition of Secretary of War Dern, who has been ill for more than a month, after a heart complication growing out of an attack of influenza. He has passed two bad nights in a row, and the doctors were uncertain as to further developments, expressing grave concern.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 26--Secretary of War Dern was reported in a physician's statement issued through the War Department this morning, as being in a semi-conscious condition after spending a "rather restless night."
