Some dastardly men, it seems, have run off from Baltimore with their goods and chattels. After fattening, in peace, upon the enterprize of the city. they leave it to provide-for itself in a time of danger. Such cowards should be exposed. It is with astonishment we learn that neighbouring towns endeavor to take advantage of Baltimore in present circumstances. A fair honorable competition is always allowable But of what stuff must the hearts of those be made who attempt to rise on the calamities of their neighbors ?
Wagner, at George-Town, in the district of Columbia, is attempting to back out. He now pretends that his intimations to Admiral Warren how and where to strike, were intended as warnings to the Baltimoreans. The fellow begins to be afraid of hemp. It is very certain that the time of joking is past. The barbarian conduct of the enemy renders it necessary to watch their aiders in this country more closely.—
They used, we believe, to hang tories last war.
