Full Text
Thoroughly beaten as we are, with our candidate overwhelmed by a majority of thirty-two when he should have won by a majority of eighty, we can but congratulate ourselves that the winners are all thoroughly identified with our city; that they are all so well qualified that no plea of incompetency can avail if they are found wanting, and that they now seem honestly desirous of continuing the good work begun by their opponents. Therefore we shall wait and hope, trusting earnestly that our fears shall be groundless and longing to join in any good work honestly proposed for the welfare of our city and the advancement of our public interests. We cannot but be very proud that the change has been effected without disorder and unattended even by an unusual number of drunks in the mayor's court.
