Full Text

Gov. Brogden's Message.

We occupy a good deal of space to-day with Gov. Brogden's Message to the Legislature, presuming that our readers will be pleased to see what the Governor says about State matters.

Gov. Brogden goes out of office on the 1st of January next, and we think he will be the last Republican (or what is called Radical) who will fill that place for a number of years in the future. The days of Radical office-holders are ended in North Carolina. But of Gov. Brogden we will say, we think he has tried to do right, although he has done acts that we do not endorse or approve, though we attribute no bad motive to him in discharging his official duties. We do not believe that C. H. Brogden would do wrong knowingly and wilfully.
