Cloakmakers on a Strike.

New York, Aug. 19.-There are several hundred cloakmakers on a strike in this city and yesterday some of them were charged with misdemeanors. A committee of two hundred strikers, while marching through Suffolk street, were roughly dispersed by a squad of police. They had no permit to parade. They had been delegated to induce other cloakmakers to stop work, and the police say that just before they were dispersed a detachment of twenty-five of them had entered several shops on Norfolk, Suffolk and Delancy streets and forcibly driven the workers out. They are also accused of damaging machinery in those shops and "cutting up cloaks." Five men were arrested. Three were afterward discharged and two were fined $10 each. The manufacturers with one accord claim that the cloakmakers can make from $15 to $20 per week, and that there is no excuse for their striking.
