Full Text
Daily Argus. Further investigation into the sale of cadetships involves another carpet bag Congressman. These fellows are mainly men whose crimes caused their banishment from the North; and, hence, their turning up as criminals in connection with their role as loyalists, is the most natural thing in the world. The sales of cadetship by carpet-baggers in Congress, and the appointments by Grant of men by whom he has been paid money, are so nearly alike in character that it is not singular that Republican newspapers should not begin the work of apologizing for the sale of appointments.
