Good Melon Year.

The melon crop has been unusually fine this year throughout Carolina and Georgia. During the past forty days something like 85 cars of watermelons have been shipped from the little town of Blythe, Ga., netting the growers about $65 per car. Some very fine melons have been grown in this county, but for the largest melon Newberry bears off the honors. A farmer in Newberry county grew one 88-pound watermelon and several that weighed 80 pounds. In the matter of superior quality and delicacy of flavor, Edgefield melons hold first place.
