Full Text

Weather in the Mountains
-Capt. Burnham, who arrived in town yesterday from Canon Creek informs us that the weather has recently been so excessively cold in that vicinity, as to cause a general suspension of mining operations. He says that the temperature has several times fallen as low as five degrees below zero. In consequence of the extreme cold, the snow remains loose and subject to the action of the winds, making it impossible to keep open trails. Thus rendering traveling from one point to another both difficult and dangerous. Little will be done in mining until the spring opens, when water will probably be very abundant.
