Administration.--A public meeting of the friends of the Administration was held in Charleston, South Carolina, on the 25th ult. at the Court House. The President of the meeting was the Hon. Theodore Gaillard, Judge of the Constitutional Court. The Secretary was Nathaniel Greene Cleary, sheriff of the County.

A committee of 13 was appointed to draft resolutions expressing the object of the meeting. Mr. Bennett late Governor of S. C. and now candidate for the Senatorial appointment vacated by the death of Mr. Gaillard-was a member of the committee, several gentlemen also who sustained responsible & important offices in the city and State were also members.

The resolutions were highly respectful to the present President, who was, they said, constitutionally elected, and whose services had been approved by Washington. The 3d resolution was "That however questionable the provision of the Constitution may be, in the mode of electing the president in the last resort, we have seen no practical evil result from it, and prefer it as it is, to what it would be, if the modifications proposed in Congress were adopted."

The Chairman was requested to transmit a copy of the preamble and resolutions to the President of the U. States.

The committee, in comparing, this with the Jackson meeting held a few days before in Charleston. conveys by implication, the information that the administration meeting had greater strength numerically and otherwise, than the opposition meeting.
