The wife of Mr Joseph Kennison, of Wolfborough (N.H.) had a large Schirrhus, or Cancerous breast. The Swelling and pain had increased to an alarming degree. Anxious for life, she consulted some of the most celebrated of the faculty in this state. In compliance with their advice, resolved to try an uncertain remedy, rather than submit to an absolute fate. On Thursday 15th of April last, Dr. Asa Adams, of said Wolfborough. Dr. Asa Crosby, of Sandwich ; and a certain Dr. Huff, of Moultonborough, met at Mr. Kenison's house for the intended operation. Mrs. Kennison, persevering in her purpose, Dr. Adams, with his usual calmness and dexterity, began and went thro' the operation, completely removing the affected breast, in 5 minutes, which weighed 3 pounds & an half. Mrs. Kennison thro' the whole scene manifested a firmness and composure highly becoming her profession as a disciple of Him who has said—"In your patience possess ye your souls." It is now just seven weeks since the operation : the wound is perfectly healed ; she is in good health, and able to do the common business of her family. It is hoped the foregoing may be sufficient to encourage other sufferers in a similar case, seasonably to try a similar remedy as there is no doubt but that many valuable lives have been lost by delay.
EBENEZER ALLEN, Minister Of said Wolfboro.
Wolfborough, June 3, 1802.
