From Geneva they say, that the Malecontents are still in Possession of the Gates, Squares, and Town-house: that 3 Days before they presented a Paper containing above 50 Heads of Demands of Alterations in the Laws. the Generality of which have a Tendency to confirm and perpetuate the Power they have usurped; that by some of them, they claim the Cognizance of all Election. of the Magistracy, and even of the Clergy; and by others, they require to be put in Possession of the Arsenal, Arms, Battery, and Ammunition, and that the Garrison be reduced to 450 Men. They add, that above 2000 Persons are already gone out of the City, with their best Effects: that the Malecontents have turned out the Post-Masters of Geneva, and taken most of the Employments into their own Hands; and that the Deputies of Zurich and Bern have not yet been able to do any Good by their Mediation.
