Atlanta, Ga. April 17.- (AP)

Rescue work diving into the wreckage hit by a tornado that passed over a region in Manchester, an unseen South Carolina early Sunday, fixed the death toll at 38, with more than 50 persons injured.

Officials said that it roared over but other sections into town roofs and lightning earned like an express train, and was accompanied by heavy rain and electrical displays.

The first one in the county at Gainesville, Ga., where in one day the tornado killed 18 persons, injured more than 200. The storm then rushed on, striking into South Carolina seven places with resultant death and destruction of property.

Residents of Hayto, Ga., where 12 were killed, said the storm ripped through other blocks through the business section. Leveling eight buildings in one fireman's residence three doctors hampered by meager lights in treating the injured. Mrs. Ann Dove brought to hospital shortly before the tornado struck. Gave birth to a baby during the storm.

Principal damage at Greystone, S. C. aside from houses leveled, was to a two story brick hospital. This building was damaged so heavily damaged that all patients except a few on the first floor had to be evacuated. No patients at the time were injured.
