Fourth of July.

Yesterday, being the anniversary of the day which gave us rank amongst the nations of the earth, the morn was ushered in by the discharge of cannon from Fort Hill by Capt. Brent's company of Artillery. At 10 o'clock an elegant and appropriate oration was delivered by Wm. L. Clarke, Esq. at the Presbyterian Meeting House, the Declaration of our Independence having been previously read by Col. A. C. Smith. A barbecue, in honor of the occasion, was also given at the Spring of Lyles Robinson, Esq. near this place.
