Airmail Dates Given
The last Christmas ship scheduled to sail for Kodiak left Seattle the day before Thanksgiving and should arrive in Kodiak next Thursday, Dec. 4.
The post office points out that for assured arrival in the States in time for Christmas that surface parcel post and surface Christmas cards should be aboard the boat on its outgoing trip. It will probably leave the same day it arrives and will go to Seldovia and Homer before Seattle.
Because of a possible early closing on outgoing mail early Thursday, patrons should mail cards and packages for the vessel as early in the week as possible, preferably Monday and Tuesday.
Air parcel post to distant States should be mailed not later than Dec. 5 for assured receipt before Christmas, Acting Postmaster William Lamme said is the recommendation of the postal department.
Christmas cards via airmail should be dispatched by Dec. 11 to the States and by Dec. 15 to other points in Alaska.
