Mr. Cocke, of Tennessee, and Mr. Haralson of Georgia, each desired to offer resolutions, but objections were made.
The Hon. Mr. Pillsbury, of Texas, appeared in his seat, and was qualified.
The Texas members are now all in their seats.
THE INGERSOLL CONTROVERSY.
Mr. Jones of Georgia, asked leave to offer the following resolutions, which was objected to
Whereas, a part of the testimony upon the charges preferred against Mr. Webster has been ordered to be printed by the order of the House, be it resolved that all the testimony be printed and appended to the majority report
The resolution was to be called up at a later hour.
THE SERGEANT-AT ARMS.
The unfinished business of last evening touching the removal of Mr. Stewart by the Sergeant at-Arms, was the first business in order this morning.
Mr. Henley of Ia, was in favor of reconsidering the Resolution by which the House had ordered the restoration of this officer.
After some debate,
Mr. Tibbitts of Ky. moved to lay the motion to reconsider upon the table.
The yeas and nays were ordered, and the motion was agreed to, Yeas 85, Nays 80.
