Town meeting was held Monday and the Republicans elected their representatives, but there was quite a scramble for office among the elect. Those who obtained a share of the loaves and fishes were as follows: Moderator, John Warren; town clerk, Emory Stone; selectmen, John Warren, B. F. Larned, C. F. Curtis; assessors, Warren Sibley, J. P. Eaton, S. P. Perry; school committee, John W. Hicks for three years, D. Whitney for one year; treasurer, Horace Hobbs; collector, Leander Merriam; constable, William H. Sibley. The appropriations amounted to $5400. The liabilities of the town are stated at $14,380.00, and the resources at $2561.81, but the latter is made up in the main of uncollected taxes, which may be abated. Last year the town paid $2196.81 for the support of the poor, and $2005.57 for schools. The library has 63 volumes.
