In the most dramatic and impressive service of the joint revival being held at Big Bethel AME church ten converts were led into new lives last night. Nearly three thousand people filled the auditorium and balcony, jammed the aisles, and crowded around the outside where the proceedings were broadcast over the sound system. The first altar service of the two-week revival which began Monday night was held and was really an inspirational affair.
To the accompaniment of great religious enthusiasm evidenced by shouting and vocal outbursts from the congregation, Rev. Hermon Gore, the youthful evangelist, preached on the Crucifixion. His subject was: "Truly, This Man is the Son of God," and as usual he held his audience spellbound as he traced the trials and tribulations of the Christ through those dark hours.
True to the promise of Rev. B. L. Davis, pastor of Liberty Baptist, and Rev. D. T. Babcock, pastor of Big Bethel, the city-wide character of the meetings was indicated by the fact that the ten converts were admonished that they might join the church of their choices in the city. They were told last night that letters would be given all converts to the pastor of any church they desired to join.
Rev. Gore has announced that he will deliver a special message tonight at 7:30 instead of the usual opening hour, 8:15. The preaching service will be preceded by a prayer service as usual. This announcement should create added interest as the preacher's manner has won him many friends and admirers in

the city. His story last night relating Jesus' visit to the Garden of Gethsemane was very dramatic and slightly emotional. His graceful poise and stage delivery add much to the effectiveness of his preaching.
There will be a joint service at Big Bethel all day Sunday. Liberty will be closed, and the general public is being invited to join in the union service.
