NOGALES, July 10.—Last night a small band of Mexicans slipped across the line about two miles east of town and drove twelve horses belonging to Alexander Ake back across the line, from the international line.
This morning Mr. Ake appeared to the colonel of the Mexican forces on the other side. The colonel said that his men did not do that kind of work, promised to investigate and send a detachment to run the horses back to this side. The horses are in a corral at the Santa Cruz ranch about 300 yards from the border. Up to a late hour the horses were still in the Mexicans' possession.
