Full Text

Dec. 21. The wickedness and immorality of our sea and land officers, soldiers, and seamen is so great and alarming, that it is unreasonable to expect victory, or even partial success, by the hands of such depraved instruments. To remedy this evil in some degree, a society has been lately instituted for supplying those classes of people with Bibles. This society, which is not much more than of a year's standing, has already furnished upwards of 5000 of these good books for this beneficent purpose. [It is probable the gentry will not find any texts in their Bibles authorising them to burn Presbyterian meeting-houses in North America.]
