SACRAMENTO, Jan. 19—(UP)—An increase of 10 per cent in the salable percentage of merchantable black walnuts grown in California during the 1942-43 season was approved today in an order issued by W. J. Creil, state director of agriculture.
Under terms of the order the percentage was boosted from 80 to 90 per cent upon recommendation of the California Walnut Control board. The board reported statistical data indicated an increase in demand has provided outlets for more walnuts than had been expected previously.
