HELENA—Superintendent of Public Instruction Harriet Miller has notified County Treasurer Bertha Dunnigan and County Superintendent of Schools Mrs. Laura Jane Taft that Glacier County will receive $8,849.18 as the final transportation reimbursement payment for elementary and secondary schools from the State Public School Equalization fund.
This payment is based on claims submitted to the Department of Public Instruction provided by the districts.
The total amount school districts in the County received from this source last year is $17,463.81.
The state payments aid in the support of the schools' transportation costs. The state reimburses one-third of the basic costs of transportation in accordance with a schedule set by law. The rest of the money to pay for school transportation comes from a county-wide tax levy and from school district taxes. Miss Miller said.
