THE BLUE RIDGE RAILROAD.
The report of Col. J. W. Iry, the Chief Engineer and Superintendent of the Columbia & Greenville Railroad, upon the surveys of the Blue Ridge Railroad has been completed and made public. The cost of completing the line from Walhalla to Clayton is $1,013,000 by a route which avoids the tunnels making the distance 26.8 miles longer. It will cost some $240,000 additional to complete the tunnel. This report is now being considered, and we hope the order may soon go forth to complete the road. It would be the greatest benefit of any road now in projection for South Carolina, and all of our people, from the sea to the mountains, would reap great advantages from its construction.
