In brief ceremonies Monday at the El Centro Marines Air Force station, Major Jack Scott, executive officer of the fighters' squadron attached to the training unit at the station, was presented with the Distinguished Flying Cross. Presentation was made by Maj. Scott's commanding officer, Maj. W. R. Lear. The citation was signed by Admiral William F. Halsey.
Major Scott's decoration was in recognition of heroic and extra achievements as pilot in the Solomons islands during a period from February 4 to September 10, 1943.
He returned to the United States last December to be attached to the El Centro station.
His family consisting of his wife and nine-months-old daughter resides at 654 Park avenue, El Centro.
