Capt. Warren has had a Commission lately from London, appointing him Commodore and Commander in Chief of all His Majesty's Ships station'd to the Northward of South-Carolina, and is now upon his Voyage to New-England, whither he had Orders to sail, with as many Ships as he could get together, for an Expedition against Louisbourg; for which the Assembly of that Province had given a large Contribution.
By a Vessel arriv'd at Norfolk, from Barbadoes, (in which Mr. Graeme, Professor of the Mathematicks at the College, is come) we hear, that on Friday last they spoke with a Whaling Vessel off our Capes, which left Rhode-Island two Days before, the Master whereof inform'd them, That Commodore Warren sail'd from New-England, a Fortnight before, with a considerable Force, on an Expedition against Cape-Breton; where we heartily wish he may meet with Success.
It is now certain, that 5800 Men rais'd by New-England and Connecticut, are sail'd from Boston, with Commodore Warren, on an Expedition; generally believ'd to be against Cape Breton.
