Full Text

More substantial business buildings,
more elegant and comfortable residences, and more large manufacturing
establishments are in course of construction in Roanoke than in any city of
equal size in the South. Where is the
new town in the United States that is
holding its own and forging ahead in
spite of the general depression as is
Roanoke?

There is much talk in the papers now
about unhealthy booms and the disaster
that they are alleged to have wrought
upon various communities. If a boom is
a bad thing, then Roanoke has more
reason to congratulate herself, for the
biggest boom ever known in
the East
has failed to retard her progress.
