CONDUCTOR HURT.
A. A. Barney Knocked Off an Electric Car Today.

Conductor A. A. Barney of the Elmwood line of electrics had a narrow escape from death this afternoon.

The car was bowling along Greenwich street at a lively rate and the conductor was taking up fares.

At the corner of West Friendship street Barney partially lost his balance and was struck by one of the supporting poles alongside the track.

The force of the collision knocked the conductor from the car which was quickly stopped.

The motorman ran back, and with the aid of some of the passengers, picked up the man who was unconscious, and took him into the drug store on the corner.

Dr. Perry attended and found that the man's scalp was badly lacerated.

He was taken to the hospital.

It is feared that Barney sustained a concussion of the brain and also a fracture of the skull.
