Board of Education Will Buy More Supplies Other Routine Business Transacted.
Plans including the purchase of two sewing machines for the domestic science department of the Beatrice high school were adopted at a meeting of the board of education Wednesday evening. The work of this department is increasing in interest and the class is largely attended.
The resignation of Peter Watson as janitor of Central school was accepted at the Wednesday evening meeting and Mr. Buck, who was formerly night fireman at the institute, was elected to fill the vacancy.
Most of the meeting was devoted to routine business, the usual monthly batch of bills being allowed. The board members expressed themselves as especially pleased with the work of the Beatrice schools this year.
The new departments of domestic science and manual training have proven successes, the work this year being especially good. These departments have added to the interest and attendance of the school and are proving decidedly beneficial to the students. The corps of teachers in both high school and grades is strong and the work has moved along without friction during the first four months of school.
