At the late Court of Common Pleas in this town, two indictments were found against the town of Lexington for omitting to repair the roads. The first had reference to the road from Lexington meeting-house toward Bedford, for which a fine of $200 was imposed. The other indictment was for the road from Lexington to the Lincoln line near Mr. Viles's public house; for this a fine of $150 was inflicted. The penalty in both cases was ordered to be expended in repairing the respective roads under the direction of agents appointed by the Court.
