LIONS STUDYING OBJECTIONS TO NATIONAL PARK

STATE HEADQUARTERS TO BE CONTACTED FOR FURTHER INFORMATION: ENTERTAINMENT FEATURES

(By CLUB REPORTER)

Entertainment featured the regular supper meeting of the Key West Lions Club held Thursday night at Stone Church Annex. President H. E. Day presiding.

Program Chairman Lion Gerald Saunders presented a fine program consisting of a piano solo, "Meditation", by Kingman Curry; Mrs. Minnie Robinson, who sang, "The House By The Side of The Road"; and, the climax of the entertainment, "Professor", Rev. Joe A. Tolle, who delighted his audience with a presentation of "Modern Interpretations Of Famous Art Pieces".

Following the report of the Red and Blue team captains in the drive for membership in the Everglades National Park Association, further action on this state-sponsored project was deferred until contact was made with state headquarters concerning certain objections to the project raised by citizens of Monroe county. Pending satisfactory communication from state headquarters in Miami, the drive locally will not go forward.

Support of the LunchRoom Project for this city was asked in a communication from the local committee and action will be taken on this matter when the Board of Directors of the Lions Club meets next week.

The second meeting in the series of four devoted to the study of "Governments of the World" will be presented at the October 6th meeting. The subject will be "Fascism".

Sea Scout Ship member, Charles Ketchum, Jr., presented the thanks of the whole Ship for the support given the Scouts in their play, "A Womanless Wedding". This Ship is sponsored by the Lions Club.

Guests, besides those who entertained, were Charles Ketchum, Jr., and Gordon Dill.
