Event Details
An old bomb shell, bought as scrap iron by the late Mr. Flowerdale and stored in the shop, was punched with a hole by the journeyman on Friday to hang lead for a jack. On Tuesday around 5 o'clock, while the journeyman and apprentice beat heated iron on the anvil, a spark entered the hole, igniting and exploding the shell into thousands of splinters, destroying parts of the forge, staircase, and windows, and causing other shop damage; splinters crossed to Mr. Yates' windows, breaking glass only.
