Bishop Lyman returned to Raleigh yesterday from a brief visitation in the western part of the State.
On Thursday, November 17th, he held an ordination in St. Luke's Church, Salisbury, and admitted to Deacon's orders Mr. Robert Bruce Owens, who was presented by Rev. Dr. Murdock. The sermon was preached by the Bishop. At night in St. Paul's Church, in the suburbs of Salisbury, after evening prayer by Rev. Dr. Murdock, the Bishop preached and confirmed twenty persons.
The next day he proceeded on to Asheville, and on Sunday, November 20th, he preached in Trinity Church, in that city, and confirmed twenty-seven persons.
He then spent nearly a week with valued friends residing near Calvary Church, Henderson county, twelve miles from Asheville, and on Sunday, November 27th, preached and administered the Holy Communion in Calvary Church.
He then paid a visit to Tryon City and Columbus, in Polk county, and preached on Sunday last, December 4th, in St. Peter's Church, Charlotte. On Monday evening he preached in the new and attractive church at Concord, and returned the next day to Raleigh.
He leaves on Friday for New York to attend a meeting of the Board of Managers of the general missionary work of the church, to be held next Tuesday, and expects to be absent until shortly before Christmas.
